I have Grit™ black socks with red words. High quality athletic socks with arch support and breathable mesh. 72% cotton, 20% nylon, 6% polyester, 2% spandex. Machine wash cold, non-chlorine bleach only, tumble dry low. Made in the U.S.A.
These socks were inspired by the book How Children Succeed by Paul Tough. We learned about this book from Mr. Jeff Anger, the principal at Fairmount Elementary in Independence, Missouri. The book asks the question: Why do some children succeed while others fail? The author notes that the story we usually tell about childhood and success is the one about intelligence. He argues that the qualities that matter most have more to do with character: skills like perseverance, curiosity, conscientiousness, optimism, and self-control...Grit! We hope that the words on these 'I have Grit'™ socks - and many of our other socks - inspire our youth to become all that they can be in all areas of their lives!

"I would give these "I have Grit" socks a 5-star rating for quality. They are thick, strong socks that stand the test of time under the harshest of conditions - a teenage boy! I am only giving the socks a 4-star rating because I do wish that they came in some other color besides black! White, at a minimum, should be an option, even gray or some other fun color, anything besides only black. We have a Golden Lab at home who sheds like crazy, so we avoid black socks in this family like the plague! My teenage son once went to his gym workout in black socks and for some reason took his shoes off there. His trainer said, "What you do, vacuum your floors with your socks? You've got the whole dog on them!" So, yeah -- another color option would be terrific!"
