These socks were inspired by the book 'How Children Succeed' by Paul Tough. We learned about this book from Mr. Jeff Anger, the principal at Fairmount Elementary in Independence, Missouri. The book asks the question: Why do some children succeed while others fail? The author notes that the story we usually tell about childhood and success is the one about intelligence. He argues that the qualities that matter most have more to do with character: skills like perseverance, curiosity, conscientiousness, optimism, and self-control...Grit! We hope that the words on these 'I have Grit'™ socks - and many of our other socks - inspire our youth to become all that they can be in all areas of their lives!
